Glycerin (herbal & palm oil free)
Glycerin is a natural component in herbal oils, lipids and our human metabolism. It is obtained by breaking down triglycerides into glycerol and fatty acids. The glycerin we use at myrto is obtained from pure vegetable oils and is 100% palm oil-free.
Glycerin is an effective and skin-friendly moisturizer. As a natural component of the skin's own moisture retention system (Natural Moisturizing Factor = NMF), it increases the elasticity of the skin. Glycerin also stabilizes the skin's barrier function and has been proven to reduce transepidermal moisture loss. Glycerin is water-attracting (hygroscopic), it improves the compatibility of surfactant-containing shampoos.
The moisturizing effect of glycerin has been proven for use in concentrations of up to 10%. Glycerin only has a drying effect when used in much higher concentrations of more than 30% in a product. Therefore, make sure that your cosmetics do not include glycerine at the top of the list of ingredients. The myrto products do not contain more than 3% glycerin.
