Why organic fresh cosmetics?

What is fresh cosmetics?

Conventional cosmetics have a shelf life of at least 3 years. You can recognize this on the packaging label by the symbol of the opened cream jar with the additional information 3, 6 or 12 months. The number of months indicates how long the product is guaranteed to last after opening. The long shelf life of over 3 years is particularly advantageous for industrial cosmetics manufacturers who supply the mass market. This means large quantities can be produced with a practically unlimited shelf life. Wholesalers and retailers also benefit from this, as long storage times are also not a problem. To make this possible, conventional cosmetics are usually full of questionable ingredients that extend the shelf life - without taking skin compatibility into account.

In contrast, all myrto products are fresh cosmetics with a shorter shelf life and a best-before date is stated on thepackaging label. This means we can do without potentially irritating synthetic preservatives and other questionable ingredients. Instead, we rely on the use of high-quality ingredients that are as natural as possible. All myrto products are freshly manufactured in small quantities with a lot of handwork exclusively in our factory.

Free from synthetic preservatives

All myrto products are fresh cosmetics. We rely on the use of fresh, natural ingredients that are rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients and have positive effects on the skin. We avoid the usual preservatives with their side effects. These additives often trigger skin irritations such as redness, itching or flaky skin. They are  therefore rightly highly controversial. The frequently used and approved preservatives include, for example:

  • Parabens (such as methylparaben, ethylparaben)
  • Phenoxyethanol
  • Benzoic acid and its salts, e.g. sodium benzoate
  • Benzyl alcohol
  • Dehydroacetic acid
  • Formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers (such as DMDM hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea)
  • Ethylhexylglycerin
  • Caprylyl glycol
  • Sorbic acid and its salts, e.g. potassium sorbate
  • Phenoxyethanol

In order to avoid potentially irritating preservatives, some of which are also approved for natural cosmetics, we use myrto uses moisturizing Pentylene Glycol from sugar cane as well as a vegetable combination of organic acids. Anisic acid and levulinic acid are used. Aniseed acid is obtained from star anise, levulinic acid from the fructose of non-GMO corn starch. Both regulate the pH value of the skin and thus improve the skin's moisture retention. In addition to their caring properties, both organic acids are antimicrobial against bacteria, fungi and yeasts. This enables organic and natural cosmetics that are optimally compatible with the skin and are rightly described as “free of preservatives”. may be advertised.

Free from mineral oil-based ingredients

No mineral oil-based ingredients are used in myrto natural cosmetics. We consistently avoid PEG emulsifiers, stabilizers, silicones, formaldehyde, sodium laureth sulfate (SLS), phthalates, microplastics, synthetic dyes and fragrances and other environmentally harmful substances. Instead, we rely on purely natural and plant-based active ingredients.

What characterizes industrial cosmetics production?

Industrial cosmetics production is characterized by several features that contrast with the artisanal production of cosmetics in factories:

Mass production: Industrial cosmetics production occurs in large quantities, often in automated production facilities. This enables lower manufacturing costs for each individual product. The products often only reach the consumer after prior sale via wholesalers and retailers and after long storage times.&nbsp ;

Synthetic and "nature-identical" preservatives: In order to enable mass production, industrial cosmetic manufacturers primarily use synthetic preservatives, which also include " "Nature-identical" preservatives are included, as well as other questionable and unnecessary additives to extend the shelf life.

Standardized formulations: In industrial cosmetics production, standardized formulations are used that are aimed at a large group of buyers. This makes mass production easier.

Cost optimization: In order to remain competitive, industrial cosmetics production is primarily about cost optimization. Therefore, automated and fast-running work processes are in the foreground. The ingredients are processed as time-saving as possible and, above all, should be inexpensive to procure.

What characterizes cosmetics from the factory?

Our myrto cosmetics, which are manufactured in the factory, differ in essential aspects from industrially produced cosmetics:

Handmade: In our factory, the craftsmanship process is the focus of production. This is about largely natural products that consist of the highest quality ingredients. The processing is carried out as gently as possible and with as much time as a high-quality manufactured product requires. Here the focus is on sustainability and quality of the ingredients.

Small batches: We continually produce all myrto products fresh in small batches. We then send the goods directly from our factory to our customers - without long storage and sales times as in conventional retail. As we use synthetic preservatives in our fresh cosmetics in the interests of optimized skin compatibility To avoid this, the myrto products should be used within their recommended period of use with the best-before date.

High-quality and natural ingredients: We focus on the quality of the ingredients and select the highest quality raw materials that are responsible for their effectiveness and tolerability are known. The cold-pressed plant oils we use come from controlled organic cultivation or from wild collections. In addition, we use highly pure CO2 plant extracts, which are extracted solvent-free using natural carbon dioxide and gently processed at low temperatures. They contain the holistic spectrum of effects of a plant - for healthy, long-term youthful skin. Due to the gentle processing and the particularly skin-friendly ingredients without unnecessary additives, the myrto products are particularly low-irritant.

Individuality through tailor-made formulations: In contrast to mass production, the handcrafted production of myrto natural cosmetics offers the opportunity to develop tailor-made recipes. This makes it possible to offer optimally skin-friendly products that are adapted to individual requirements.

Sustainability and ethics: We attach particular importance to sustainability and ethics in the production of myrto products. This includes a personal approach, production that is as environmentally friendly as possible, fair working conditions and the avoidance of harmful ingredients.
