How it all began...
Everything changes with the birth of a child. When the first of their six children was born in 1987, Eva and Peter wondered what kind of care sensitive baby skin really needed. They were convinced that the foundation for healthy skin development is laid in the first months of life. At the health food store, they picked up a calendula cream for the diaper area. But instead of providing relief, unnecessary additives like alcohol, emulsifiers, and fragrances worsened their newborn's skin problems. This experience was formative: Eva and Peter grew to desire natural and skin-friendly care without additives, completely free of harmful substances and chemical additives.
Eva Silvana was a high school teacher before she faced completely new, unexpected challenges as a mother of 6 children. The many different skin problems her children had as babies and toddlers could not be managed at all with conventional care products. Eva also noticed that conventional creams required more and more frequent reapplication and still dried out the skin. So, with a lot of love, empathy and the purest ingredients from nature, she began to produce her own healing creams without skin-weakening fillers and additives. The increasing and lasting success of these irritation-free, highly effective formulations, based on her expertise and passion for medicinal plants, encouraged Eva, after more than 20 years of experience, to develop an innovative vegan natural cosmetics line with now over 70 products for hypersensitive and problematic skin.
As a professor, Peter contributed his technical expertise and supported them in the implementation, from setting up the processes to programming the first website. Independent dermatologists soon confirmed the skin compatibility of the new formulations with a rating of "very good." With the design of the logo, their own labels, and the website programmed by Peter, the myrto project entered the public eye. Like their six children, the family business has grown: In 2013, the first recipes evolved into a factory in Bergisch Gladbach, where a motivated team now works on innovative natural cosmetic products.
Handmade natural cosmetics from our factory
All myrto products are carefully handcrafted in our in-house factory – from development and production to bottling and labeling. Each product is crafted with the utmost precision and attention to detail to ensure the purity and effectiveness of our organic-certified natural cosmetics (Codecheck).
Product photography is also done in our own studio, ensuring we can present every detail authentically and genuinely. This independent, sustainable production allows us to deliver uncompromising quality – for sensitive skin and the highest standards.
Why we do this
Craftsmanship instead of mass-produced goods
Premium natural cosmetics with first-class, natural ingredients cannot be mass-produced. That's why we always produce our myrto natural cosmetics fresh in small batches in our own factory. For quality reasons, we reject the use of commonly used semi-finished products. Instead, we develop our passion project ourselves from the idea to the finished product and produce it with meticulous craftsmanship. This allows us to oversee all processes, ensuring sustainability and consistently high quality.
Pure & Transparent
Our facial care is 100% vegan—free from alcohol, skin-weakening emulsifiers, preservatives, and fragrances. We rely on a few carefully selected, purely plant-based ingredients that strengthen the skin's natural protective barrier.
All raw materials used meet the quality requirements of certified natural cosmetics. For maximum traceability, we list each INCI ingredient in our glossary with an independent rating taken from the CodeCheck database. All myrto products carry the 100% green ring from CodeCheck. In addition, the ingredients in our products consistently receive top marks according to the ÖKO-TEST criteria.
For us, transparency means clear recipes and clearly communicated evaluations – from raw materials to the finished product.
Quality that convinces
Sustainability & Responsibility
Our work focuses on ethical, social, and consistently sustainable action – for the environment and people. We support, among others, women's cooperatives in Brazil, Burkina Faso, and Morocco. We fill as many products as possible in glass bottles and jars; facial creams that are particularly sensitive to microbes come in recycled PP airless dispensers. Our packaging is produced in Germany and Austria, and our suppliers are preferably small, regional businesses. For shipping, we use recycled boxes with plastic-free padding made from environmentally friendly grass paper: one ton of grass paper requires only 2 liters of water – compared to 6,000 liters for conventional paper. In our factory, we rely on 100% renewable energy, reduce paper consumption as much as possible, and consistently avoid unnecessary secondary packaging.
Award from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research
In 2024, myrto Naturkosmetik was awarded a prize by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in cooperation with the Biological-Medical Research Center (BMFS) for our groundbreaking research work in the field of natural cosmetics without emulsifiers!
The focus of our award-winning project was the development of a new generation of natural cosmetic products that completely eliminate traditional emulsifiers. Our goal: maximum skin compatibility, stability, and long-term support of a healthy skin microbiome.
For us, this award is a significant milestone and a confirmation of our mission to shape the natural cosmetics of the future
