Sesame oil – nourishing, antioxidant & skin barrier strengthening
Sesame oil strengthens the skin barrier, has antioxidant and detoxifying effects – ideal for dry, sensitive or irritated skin.
Introduction / Brief description
Sesame oil (INCI: Sesamum Indicum Oil ) is one of the oldest known plant oils and has been known since ancient times for its nourishing, warming, and detoxifying properties. It is quickly absorbed into the skin, leaves a non-greasy film, and is particularly suitable for sensitive or dry skin types.
Origin & Production
The virgin, unroasted sesame oil we use comes from a fair trade project in Mali . There, it is extracted from organically grown sesame seeds through gentle cold pressing. The participating villages benefit directly from the oil export through the construction of wells, schools, and kindergartens, as well as through reforestation and environmental projects.
Effect on the skin
- Strengthens the skin barrier: The high content of linoleic acid (Omega-6) supports a healthy lipid barrier
- Antioxidant: Contains natural vitamin E to protect against free radicals
- Light & nourishing: Absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue – ideal for sensitive skin
- Rich in lecithin: Supports cell structure and improves moisture retention
- Detoxifying: In Ayurvedic care, sesame oil is traditionally used to eliminate metabolic waste
