Rosewood oil (Dalbergia Sissoo) is a sustainable, skin-friendly alternative to the endangered Brazilian rosewood – with a warm, floral-woody scent.

Introduction / Brief description

Rosewood oil is a mild essential oil with an elegant, slightly sweet, woody fragrance profile. The original essential oil was extracted from the Brazilian rosewood tree ( Aniba rosaeodora ). Since this tree species is now considered an endangered species, at myrto we use exclusively sustainably sourced rosewood oil from Dalbergia sissoo , an Indian tree species with a similar fragrance spectrum.

Origin & Production

The rosewood tree ( Aniba rosaeodora ) originally used for this purpose originates from the tropical rainforests of South America. Due to intensive deforestation, it is now on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Our rosewood oil therefore comes from the Indian Dalbergia sissoo , which is extracted from reddish-scented wood shavings through gentle steam distillation . Extraction is controlled, resource-efficient, and without impacting natural habitats.
