Origin & Production
The frankincense tree grows in Ethiopia, Somalia, Yemen, and Oman on barren, dry soils under extreme climatic conditions. The essential oil is extracted from the tree's natural resin by steam distillation. About 80 kilograms of resin are required for one liter of pure oil—a very complex production process that underscores the oil's value.
