Willow bark (INCI: Salix Alba Bark Extract ) comes from the controlled wild collection of the white willow tree. Known in naturopathy for centuries, it contains natural precursors of salicylic acid—particularly salicin—and is ideal for clarifying, sebum-regulating, and skin-soothing formulations for impure or oily skin.
Effect & application in skin care
The bark of the white willow contains the active ingredient salicin, which is converted into salicylic acid in the body. This beta-hydroxy acid has the following effects:
- • anti-inflammatory & antibacterial
- • sebum-regulating for oily skin
- • soothes redness and irritation
The extract is particularly suitable for acne, blackheads and oily skin with enlarged pores.
Skin refinement & regeneration
Willow bark has a gentle keratolytic effect—that is, it promotes the skin's natural exfoliation, smoothes clogged pores, and provides a more even complexion. Unlike synthetic salicylic acid, its natural effect is milder and better tolerated.
