The so-called acid mantle is our skin's defense shield - it is a thin water-fat film that consists of sebum, sweat and horny cells. The pH value of the skin is 4.5 to 5.5. It is slightly acidic and thus protects the skin from pathogens, pollutants, fungi and bacteria. In order to maintain the skin's protective acid mantle and not dry out the skin, the pH value of the cleaning and care products should be adjusted to the pH value of the skin.
