Where does our avocado oil come from?
Avocado trees were cultivated by the indigenous people of Mexico thousands of years ago. The Aztecs used the avocado pulp as a cosmetic for youthful, smooth skin and strong, shiny hair.
Our myrto products use gently, mechanically cold-pressed green oil from the flesh of fully ripe organic avocados. The avocado trees from the highlands of Kenya belong to a community of regional, small-scale village farmers who work according to organic and fair trade guidelines. What active ingredients does avocado oil contain?
The oil of the green superfruit contains plenty of lecithin, which is a building block of all cell membranes and strengthens the skin barrier. The high palmitoleic acid content tightens the tissue and ensures good tolerance even for sensitive skin. Vitamins such as retinol (vitamin A), D and E stimulate cell renewal, smooth the skin and keep it elastic. Vitamin E as a powerful antioxidant slows down the aging process of the skin.
