The cold-pressed rapeseed oil we use from a small oil mill comes from regionally and ecologically grown rapeseed from Germany. Native organic rapeseed oil is cold-pressed purely mechanically by screw presses at low temperatures of less than 40 degrees. It is not refined, discolored or deodorized, so all valuable ingredients are preserved. Around 2.3 kg of rapeseed are required to produce one liter of rapeseed oil.
The oil quality depends on the quality of the oilseed. Native rapeseed oils contain a variety of secondary plant substances. They are characterized by a mild, typically nutty taste and have a natural, golden yellow color.
Rapeseed oil has a high content of unsaturated essential fatty acids, in particular oleic acid, linoleic acid and polyunsaturated α-linolenic acid. The ratio of essential omega-6 to the anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids is particularly favorable from a nutritional point of view. Rapeseed oil is rich in minerals, it contains a lot of cell-protecting vitamin E, antioxidant carotenoids (provitamin A) and phytochemicals that slow down skin aging. Rapeseed oil protects the skin from free radicals and makes it supple. In addition, rapeseed contains a large amount of sinapinic acid, the molecules of which act as organic UV filters in the plant.
