Ylang Ylang (Cananga Odorata Flower Oil) - Controlled Organic Cultivation
The Ylang Ylang tree is native to Indonesia, the Comoros and Madagascar. It grows up to 27 m tall and has green-yellowish flowers with a sweetish sweet smell. The essential oil is obtained in a complex manufacturing process by steam distillation of the fresh flowers. The heavy, sweet and sensual flower scent has a slightly woody background note.
Ylang-Ylang has a strong spasmolytic, analgesic, antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It promotes the release of the "happiness hormones" serotonin and endorphin. A lack of serotonin causes inner restlessness, nervousness and depression. Serotonin reduces the tension of the blood vessel walls, so that the blood pressure drops. We feel physically relaxed and mentally reassured. Endorphins in turn reduce a negative mood and depression. The essential oil is attributed a strong aphrodisiac effect. Medically, Ylang Ylang is used against tachycardia (hypertension), menstrual cramps, abdominal and muscle spasms.
