The Right Care for Wrinkles, Bags and Dark Circles under the Eyes

Our eyes reveal a lot about our emotional state: whether we are happy, satisfied, sad, depressed or anxious. Even if we don't get enough sleep or suffer from stress, this is reflected in the eye area. Lack of moisture or external factors such as frequent and extensive sunbathing also leave traces in the form of wrinkles, sagging skin or dark circles under the eyes.

Causes of dark circles, bags and wrinkles under the eyes

  • Allergic reactions and inflammation - Allergic reactions to ingredients in eye care or eye makeup or allergic conjunctivitis can also lead to dilatation of blood vessels and fluid accumulation under the eyes.
  • Genetic factors - Dark circles under the eyes and bags under the eyes can be hereditary. Some people naturally have thinner skin and more visible blood vessels in that area, which leads to dark circles under the eyes. Weak connective tissue under the eyes can also be genetically determined and promote bags under the eyes.
  • Skin aging - Natural skin aging also contributes to the development of dark circles and bags under the eyes. This causes the skin to lose elasticity and firmness, which can lead to tissue slackening and the formation of swelling. Reduced collagen and elastin production also causes the skin to become thinner and blood vessels to become more visible, which increases dark circles under the eyes.
  • Environmental factors and lifestyle - Certain environmental factors and lifestyle habits such as excessive sun exposure, smoking, alcohol, stress, an unbalanced diet high in salt and sugar, and chronic dehydration can contribute to dark circles and bags under the eyes.
  • Fatigue and lack of sleep - Lack of sleep or poor sleep quality can cause blood vessels to dilate and fluid to build up under the eyes, causing dark circles and bags under the eyes. Additionally, chronic fatigue can lead to dull skin and uneven skin tone, which worsens the appearance of dark circles.

Why a special care for the eye area?

The first signs of skin aging are usually visible in the eye area. Again and again we are asked whether and why special eye care is necessary at all. Good skin care in the eye area is essential, although special eye care is not absolutely necessary, but very useful. The thin skin structure and the needs in the sensitive eye area differ significantly from the needs of the rest of our facial skin.

The skin around the eyes is about four times thinner than the rest of the facial skin. It is particularly sensitive, has hardly any sebaceous glands and therefore dries out much faster. Constant mimic movements such as blinking or winking contribute to the fact that the first wrinkles and lines quickly appear around the eyes, which become more and more pronounced over the years. Even if we are self-confident about our natural signs of skin aging, we still want to age well. With the right eye care, we can successfully combat and minimize unsightly wrinkles, bags under the eyes, dark shadows and circles under the eyes.

How to find a good eye care product

As always, the ingredients are crucial for good eye care. Good eye care has to face many challenges. Above all, it should provide plenty of moisture and strengthen the lipid barrier. It should fight free radicals, reduce and plump up wrinkles, inhibit inflammation and, if possible, also fade dark pigment spots.

While an eye cream, depending on its consistency and richness, tends to seal the skin, appear heavier and not completely absorbed, this is not the case with an eye serum. The myrto eye serums with their concentrated active ingredients optimally nourish and moisturize the skin. They have a light consistency and are suitable for all skin types. The eye serums are absorbed quickly and deeply. They leave the skin feeling soft with a wafer-thin, breathable film made from plant fibers that minimizes moisture loss.

The magnolia eye serum with vitamin C and caffeine

The new Magnolia eye serum reduces fine lines. It promotes a rosy, even and refreshed look around the eyes. The eye serum in the practical roll-on amber glass bottle provides your skin with powerful active ingredients for an awake and radiantly beautiful eye area.

  • Magnolia bark - soothes and tightens the skin, reduces swelling, inhibits itching and inflammation (inflamm-aging), lightens pigment spots, ensures an even complexion.

  • Vitamin C - The vitamin C derivative we use (ascorbyl glucoside) is particularly suitable for very sensitive skin. It stimulates the production of skin-tightening collagen, has an antioxidant effect against cell damage and gradually lightens discolorations such as dark pigment spots.

  • Caffeine - stimulates blood circulation down to the smallest blood vessels and allows swellings such as visible bags under the eyes to subside more quickly. Caffeine also acts as a strong antioxidant against cell-damaging free radicals and thus delays skin aging.

  • Hyaluronic acid - The Magnolia eye serum contains 0.5% medium and ultra-low molecular weight hyaluronic acid with a depot effect. Hyaluronic acid provides the sensitive eye area with long-lasting moisture and protects the skin from drying out.

Our 5 eye care tips

  • Application also in between: You can use the myrto eye serums in the practical roller applicator not only in the morning and in the evening, but also in between if necessary under the eyes, over the eyelid and along the eyebrows.

  • High-quality sunglasses: treat yourself to sunglasses with high UVA/UVB protection. It is an indispensable protection against premature skin aging in the eye area.

  • Touch your eyes gently: If possible, try not to rub your eyes if you are tired after long hours in front of the screen and your eyes need relaxation. Better give yourself a break.

  • Don't strain your eyes: If your eyes are dry, reddened or irritated while working on the PC, look outside into the distance or, ideally, go for a relaxing walk in nature.

  • The right diet: Be careful with salty foods and alcohol, especially in the evening. Salt promotes water retention, alcohol hinders the removal of waste products and promotes lymphatic congestion. Then it can happen that you wake up the next morning with swollen eyes
