Copaiba balm

Copaiba balm  (Copaifera Officinalis Resin) - Certified Organic Collection

The South American Copaiba tree from the Amazonian rainforests grows up to 30 m. Copaiba trees can become 400 years old. Copaiba balm is obtained in sustainable wild collection by the indigenous population from the oily resin of the Copaiba tree. The trunk is drilled at a height of 60 cm with a hand drill until the resin emerges. The syrupy viscous resin has a yellowish to golden brown color and a pleasant balsam-woody fragrance. A drain gutter pipe, located just below the opening, directs the oil-resin mixture into a container at the bottom. There, the oil is collected for a few days and then directly filtered. After harvesting the holes are closed with clay to protect the tree from fungal attack and termites. With this sustainable method about 4 to 5 liters can be tapped from each tree per year. This wild and sustainable collection of Copaiba takes place in protected, controlled areas and provides a livelihood for the indigenous population.

Natural copaiba balm is rich in terpenes. It is traditionally used to combat severe inflammation, scarring, fungal infections, acne and psoriasis. Copaiba balm is known as one of the strongest natural antibiotics against gram-positive bacteria with powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
